Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal has been a self-professed “geek” given 1989. He tells us how he got into computers and tech and how he tried to get Steve Jobs to give him an early preview of the iPhone.
The following is a twin of the video.
SHAQ: I’ve been a geek given 1989. we became a geek since a geek helped me pass supervision in high school.
If we didn’t pass this last final test, wouldn’t play for the state championship.
The teacher, since she saw we was trying hard, she gave me another possibility and said, “You need to go study with this man over here.”
And this man was so smart, he kinda intimidated me. He was the only man in category who knew how to work the computer.
So since he was on the mechanism and we knew we wasn’t that smart, we kind of stayed divided from him and stayed divided from the smart people.
But the way he pennyless it down — his suspicion process, how he analyzed certain situations, how he complicated — we actually picked that up and it got me by college and my master’s and my doctorate and all that.
But since of me unresolved out with this man for a week, a couple of hours a week, and just schooled how cold he was and then just being in front of innovation.
I remember when the good Steve Jobs was still alive and he announced the iPhone. we got his phone number.
I called him copiousness of times and I’d be like, Can we just demeanour at it?
Because you review about it, you see all these publications, you know it’s coming out on Friday but it’s Thursday. Can we just fly to your residence at 12:00, which is strictly Friday?
But he always told me no. But we just always like to be at the forefront of technology.
