Horrific images show police engulfed in abandon after protesters threw petrol bombs in Paris today.

Six officers were harmed during riots in protest against distant right Marine Le Pen’s success in the first turn of the French presidential election.

One officer, believed to be the man graphic above, was seriously harm by a firebomb which exploded on the top of his helmet.

Footage from the stage shows the officer run back from the stage trying to put out the fire which has engulfed him.

The assault pennyless out during May Day protests close to the Place de la Bastille, where demonstrators shouted ‘Fascists out!’

A police source said: ‘Around one hundred hooded protestors got as close as they could to police lines, and then one or two threw Molotov Cocktails.

‘One officer suffered critical browns to the face just after 3pm. He was rushed to hospital. He is in a bad way, but his condition is not life threatening.’

Another officer suffered critical palm wounds, while others were reduction badly hurt.

Ms Le Pen, personality of the far-Right National Front until she temporarily stood down for the election, will go head-to-head against eccentric favourite Emmanuel Macron on Sunday.

‘She represents injustice and hatred, that’s because we’re hostile her,’ pronounced one Left-wing activist, who asked to be referred to as Nicole, 22.

As Nicole spoke, demonstration police used rip gas and rod charges to try and curb the crowds.

More than 9,000 police, gendarmes and soldiers were on avocation to try and forestall difficulty on what is traditionally a day of criticism opposite France.
