KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — An Afghan infantryman non-stop fire Sunday inside a bottom in the southern Helmand province, wounding 3 U.S. soldiers before being shot dead.
Navy Cpt. Bill Salvin, a U.S. military spokesman, pronounced bloc forces had killed the infantryman “to finish the attack,” but Col. Mohammad Rasoul Zazai, an Afghan army spokesman, pronounced the infantryman had done a “mistake” and had not fired deliberately.
Several U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan in new years in supposed insider attacks carried out by Afghan police or soldiers.
