When we went gluten-free several years ago, there was one thing we missed the most: fish and chips.
Yet, these are customarily not remotely gluten-free friendly.
Not only is the beat done with wheat flour but even the chips are out of the doubt given products are mostly baked in the same fryer, which causes cranky contamination. No, deep-frying doesn’t kill the gluten.
However, Coeliac-friendly fish and chip shops are now popping up all over the UK.
So, we took to Twitter to ask gluten-free folk all over the country to suggest their favourite free-from chippies:
1. The Real Food Cafe, Tyndrum, Scotland
The Real Food Cafe is in the top 60 fish and chip shops in the UK.
It’s accredited by Coeliac UK and has a finish gluten-free menu, including fudge cake.
