Katy Perry to skip Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show after being ‘banned from China’

Katy Perry’s designed outing to China is off after she was reportedly denied a visa – causing serve problems for this year’s already-beleaguered Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The thespian was due to perform at the high-profile eventuality at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena on Monday (November 20), but her plans have now been scuppered by Chinese authorities.

According to Page Six, Perry’s focus for a visa was denied by officials after their courtesy was drawn to a 2015 opening she gave in Taipei, the collateral of Taiwan – which has been battling China for autonomy for many years.

The Swish Swish thespian wore a bright dress with sunflowers on during that gig, which caused outrage in China as the sunflower had been adopted as a pitch by anti-Chinese protesters – the Sunflower Student Movement – in 2014.

Perry also draped the Taiwanese dwindle over her shoulders in an apparent show of support for the country.

‘For every artist who wants to perform in China, officials brush by their social media and press reports to see if they have finished anything deemed to be descent to the country,’ a source told the publication.

‘Maroon 5 were banned a few years ago since one rope member wished the Dalai Lama happy birthday on Twitter.’

Perry has now been forced to cancel her coming at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, with her container set to be filled by Harry Styles.

The star’s reported anathema from China follows a identical punishment which was handed out to Gigi Hadid by Chinese authorities.

Hadid – who was also set to star at the VS show – was reportedly banned from China after posting an Instagram video back in February which seemed to show her mimicking Buddha.

Other VS models – including Julia Belyakova, Kate Grigorieva and Irina Sharipova – have also been denied entrance to China for the show, while Adriana Lima has had her Chinese visa focus held up due to a reported ‘diplomatic problem’.
