Epic Games has continued to update and improve Fortnite with weekly updates, contributing to its ever-growing community.

Developers have now released their plans for the game over the next couple of months, which includes new limited modes, new cosmetics, enhanced gameplay and server improvements

The announcement also included the news that players will start to see some weapons removed from the game whilst new ones continue to be added.

This is being done to fit in with their aim of keeping the game fresh but balanced and to continue to provide new content for the players.

Why is the SMG being removed from Fortnite?

The SMG will be the first weapon to be removed from Battle Royale with the aim of keeping a balance within the game as more new weapons continue to be added.

Epic Games has said that removed weapons will be stored in the vault and assured fans that they could return in the future.

This will enable them to manage the weapon pool and ensure that there is not an overflow of options within the game.

The developer explained in a Reddit post that they ‘want to make sure that the balance of itemization isn’t ruined’.

All rarities of the SMG will no longer be available, but players will still be able to find Tactical SMG’s and Surpressed SMG’s.

What other Fortnite updates are coming up?

Epic Games has listed the following as areas they are looking to work on in the game –

  • Improved building controls on console
  • Team Communication outside of voice chat
  • Ability to re-queue from the death screen
  • Ability to preemptively hold down the search button while approaching a searchable object
  • Display of how much ammo is loaded into a gun on the weapon widget
  • Larger map w/ zoom

Developers have always made server stability one of their priorities after players experienced issues joining with friends and logging into servers over the last few weeks.

There are also plans to add a 60 FPS option to the console versions of the game, which will excite fans who enjoy top visuals with their gameplay.

New art designs are also continually being added with a new batch of cosmetics expected when Battle Pass season 3 is launched later this month.
