- Shares of media firm Viacom peaked as much as 12% just before the shutting bell Friday after TheWrap reported it was in talks to combine with CBS. The batch sealed up 7%.
- The news website pronounced CBS authority Les Moonves is now open to the consolidation, reversing his prior stance, citing 3 people with believe of the talks.
- Viacom was shaped in 2005 out of a separate from the prior iteration of the company, with the prototype re-branded as the CBS Corporation. Viacom now operates prolongation studios including Paramount Pictures and Paramount Television; TV stations including BET, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon; and ratemyprofessors.com.
- The two companies have formerly attempted to combine at the ask of infancy stakeholder National Amusements, but the understanding was called off in Dec 2016.
